The Sectoral Committee on Water Environment Climate Change and Natural Resources has today held a meeting with the corresponding Department from the Executive and other stakeholders to deliberate on Kisumu County Climate Change Fund Regulations, 2023.

The meeting that was convened by the department in partnership with SUSWATCH also brought together the Select Committee on Delegated Legislation.

In their opening statements, CECM Hon. Maryline Agwa, Speaker Hon. Elisha Oraro and Assembly Clerk Mr. Owen Ojuok emphasized the importance of the Regulation whose aim is to operationalize the County Climate Act, 2020.

The Regulation is a strategic approach to provide the roadmap on the management and administrative procedures for the Kisumu County Climate Change Fund to be established and to provide a framework for resource mobilization for mitigation and response to climate change.
