Kisumu Governor H.E. Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o today joined the the County Assembly’s Budget and Appropriations Committee during its deliberation on the County’s proposed Budget Estimates FY 2026/2027.

The Governor urged the Committee chaired by Kondele MCA Hon. Joachim Oketch to secure his legacy by prioritizing high impact development projects in the proposed budget.

” This is the last budget I will be implementing as a Governor and I am keen to ensure that we deliver on the promises we made to our people,” he stated.

Highlighting the key development priorities, the Governor thanked the County Assembly led by Speaker Hon. Elisha Jack Oraro for the close working relationship.

” The many achievements we have made could not have been possible if we lacked the support of the County Assembly,” he remarked.

Hon. Oraro urged the Governor to look into the issue of own-source revenue to ensure there is adequate resources to finance the proposed Budget Estimates.

” As a County, we cannot implement all these programmes if we don’t collect enough money in own source revenue,” he stated.

The Budget and Appropriations Committee is currently in the process of interrogating departmental budget proposals and analyzing the feedback obtained from public participation on the proposed Budget Estimates.

The Governor was accompanied by the First Lady Madam Dorothy Nyong’o, CECM Finance and Economic Planning Hon. George Okong’o among other County officials.
