CEC nominee for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development Mr. Jerome Ochieng today appeared before the Committee on Appointment chaired by the Speaker Hon. Elisha Oraro for vetting.

The immediate former Principal Secretary for ICT promised to use his knowledge and long working experience in government to transform the department.

The Committee will now prepare a report on the suitability of the nominee, which shall subsequently be tabled in the House for consideration.

Meanwhile, other County Executive Committee Members, accompanied by their senior technical officers appeared before respective Sectoral Committees to discuss the proposed budget estimates for FY 2024/2025.

The meeting reviewed the departmental performance of the current budget ( FY 2023/2024) and looked into the proposed county strategic priorities, programmes, and projects for the FY 2024/2025 (to validate if the departmental priorities are aligned with the Governors Manifesto, CIDP III and CADP FY 2024/2025).

Key issues discussed included measures to address the accumulated pending bills, departmental absorption rate, and revenue raising measures to finance the proposed budget estimates.

The departments which appeared before the Assembly today included Sports, Culture, Gender and Youth Affairs; Water,Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change and the City of Kisumu.

The Assembly will conclude the interrogation of Departments on budget estimates tomorrow (Wednesday).
